Research associate for the project on early medieval charters (Cluster of Excellence "Understanding Written Artifacts: Material, Interaction and Transmission in Manuscript Cultures")
The position in accordance with Section 28 subsection 3 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences as soon as possible. This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The term is fixed for a period of three years. The position calls for 75% of standard workhours per week (salary level 13 TV-L).
Responsibilities:
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates mayalso pur-sue independent research and further academic qualifications.Specific Duties:Research in the frame of the project “What is original in an original royal charter? Re-evaluation and a new approach to writing and validation of western early medieval diplomas”. The position includes the enrolment in the Cluster's graduate school, and requires participation in research colloquia, lecture series and workshops, as well as active engagement in the Cluster's research activities.
Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant field. Expertise in Diplomatics, Palaeography, Medieval Latin, and German and French (both at least written) is expected. Fluent English, written and spoken.
