Russia‘s current war against Ukraine has a broad impact on the culture of remembrance. In the two-part seminar, historians from Ukraine address the current conflicts and perspectives for memory work. Part I by Ihor Dvorkin, Kharkiv/Lwiv, introduces the culture of remembrance in Ukraine about the Second World War in the format of a lecture, followed by a discussion. Part II by Svitlana Telukha, Leipzig/Kharkiv, and Evhenii Telukha, Kharkiv, focuses on the peculiarities of conducting oral history research on the Second World War in Ukraine. In connection with this, different documents will be analysed in small groups. As examples, memories of former prisoners from the archival collection of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial as well as documentary artistic projects that emerged after February 24, 2022 in Kharkiv will be presented and discussed.
The free online training takes place in English and is offered via the online tool Zoom.
