DH projects are complex projects due to their interdisciplinarity, innovativeness and the usually very limited resources due to third-party funding. To-dos should be completed in projects, but they are somehow dependent on one another. Personnel and financial resources must be available, but also planned. The project should of course be successful, but who decides everything about it?
In order to face these challenges and help DH projects succeed, another tool is required in the DH project toolbox that promotes a considered and systematic approach: project management.
In the workshop “Project management as an important tool for digital humanities projects” at SUB Hamburg, we would like to bring together the typical challenges of DH projects with the potential of project management methods.
In addition to compact inputs on project management, there will be space for your own experiences from project practice and testing PM methods, which can also be used in your own project work in the future.
The offer is aimed at those interested in scientific project work at universities, research institutions or academic libraries; no previous knowledge is necessary.
